My successful weight loss journey. Tips that work

While reflecting on my weight loss journey, I realized that I had made some lifestyle adjustments which helped me a lot in my 3 months journey and I would like to share with all of you who are reading this post.

Tip #1 - Tailor your current diet and exercise plan to ensure that they suit you

Everybody is different. No single diet plan and the same exercise routine would work for everybody as we all live different lives in unique bodies that have their own needs. You have to tailor a plan to suite yourself.

Tip #2 - Eating healthy foods in the right portions is important

Weight loss isn’t just about exercising. In fact exercises helped to keep you healthy but will not help you lose weight unless you do a lot of core muscles workouts. So if you think exercising is the solution then you are wrong. It’s about what you eat. But many people still don’t pay enough attention to their food intake in terms of quality and quatity to ensure that they are eating a balance and healthy diet. You need to pay attention to what you’re eating which may mean investing more time in meal planning - either preparing the meals yourself or taking the time to select a nutritious take-away meal.

Tip #3 - Adjust your hours of sleep

Sleep is essential, both for mental acuity and to help your body recover from the stresses in our daily lives. It can be hard to get enough good quality sleep. I used to be a night owl but I was determined to make changes and get at least 7-8 hours of shuteye and to examine my habits for things that could be decreasing my sleep quality. Plan to be in bed before 11 pm.

Tip #4 - Keeping solids and liquid separate

Glugging water during meals severely hampers your stomach’s digestive powers and causes insulin levels to fluctuate significantly. Our stomachs have a knack of knowing when you will eat and starts releasing digestive juices immediately. If you start drinking water at the same time, what you are actually doing is diluting the digestive juices being released to digest your food, thereby hindering them from breaking down food resulting in poor digestion. So ensure that you have one hour apart between your meal and your water break time.

Tip #5 - Eat whole foods versus processed foods

Whole foods retain their natural state and have little or no processing. Great examples of whole foods are fresh fruits and vegetables. Whole foods tend to be nutrient-dense which means they are filled with vitamins, minerals, fiber and don't have added sugar, sodium or unhealthy fats such as trans-fat.

Tip #6 - Eating meals at the correct hour

During my weight loss journey, I followed the TCM body clock which is believed to help us know when to exercise, eat, rest n sleep. It also acts as a way to communicate with a particular organ or meridian (energy channel) of the body. The Body-Energy Clock is built upon the concept of the cyclical ebb and flow of energy throughout the body. During a 24-hour period, Qi moves in two-hour intervals through the organ systems. During sleep, Qi draws inward to restore the body. So I deliberately adjusted my breakfast to between 7-9am which is the time of the Stomach to enable myself to eat the largest meal of the day to optimize digestion and absorption. Lunch is between 1am- 1pm where it is the time of the Heart which will work to pump nutrients around the body to help provide our body with energy and nutrition and from 5-7pm is the time of the Kidneys when the blood is filtered and the kidneys work to maintain proper chemical balance and I timed my dinner between these hours and after 7 pm I will have take any food or water.

Tip #7 - 5 Water breaks throughout the day

Take warm water upon waking up, at 10 am, 11 am, 2 pm, and 5 pm. No water after 7 pm.

Tip #8 - Use of heated Slimbelt at designated hours

The wrapping times of the Yangshen slim belt also follows the TCM body clock so there are designated hours to wrap so that the body benefits most when the body's organs are go through the natural detoxification process.

Tip #9 - Get a friend or a support group to go on this weight loss journey with you

The good news is, you don’t have to do it alone. Get a friend on the same program. When it comes to habit changes, enlisting your friends to help you lose weight will get you and them on a healthier path. I had a support group of senior mentors as well as a number of members going through the weight loss program and each day all of us will meet virtually to look at our food diaries and weigh loss results where we will get guidance and advice on how to lose better and we also motivate one another each day.

I'm so glad I went on this Yangshen Slim belt weight loss program. I'm now at 51 kilos (lost 10 kilos) in 10 weeks and I'm now leading a healthy, active life because of the changes I’ve made – and that’s the most amazing feeling.
